Biography

Dr. Tunde Oseni is an Associate Professor of Political Science, and a Leadership Consultant based in England. He is the CEO of Upward BAO Consulting Limited, UK, where he designs and facilitates both intellectual and experiential programmes for executives, mid-level leaders, and managers across the UK and Africa. Alongside his consulting work, he offers supervision, tutoring, and mentoring to students in academies as well as further education colleges and higher institutions in Newcastle and the West Midlands.

He holds a First-Class degree in Political Science from the University of Ibadan, an MSc in African Studies with a focus on Politics and Development from the University of Oxford, and a PhD in Politics from the University of Exeter, UK, where he taught from 2008 to 2011. He had received a MacArthur Foundation Student Exchange scholarship to the University of Ghana in 2003 and attended the Democracy and Diversity Graduate Summer Institute by the New School for Social Research, New York, held in Cape Town, South Africa, in 2009.

From 2015 to 2021, Dr. Oseni served as the Head of the Department of Politics and International Relations at Lead City University in Ibadan, Nigeria. During his tenure, he played a key role in establishing research clusters in Diplomacy, Public Affairs, and Euro-African Studies. He has presented his research at leading institutions such as the University of Oxford, University of Cambridge, University College London, and the University of Exeter, as well as at the Midlands African Studies Hub (MASH) hosted by the University of Nottingham.

With over 20 years of experience in university teaching, research, administration, and leadership consultancy, Dr. Oseni has organised and contributed to executive retreats and conferences in cities including Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, London, Oxford, Cologne, Accra and Lagos. He was also a member of the Technical Committee for the inaugural Southwest Security Summit organised by the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission in 2019. Furthermore, in 2025, he examined a PhD thesis in Leadership and Corporate Governance at a private university in the Commonwealth of Dominica

Dr. Oseni is the co-author and editor of five highly regarded books: Reluctant Transitions: Nigeria’s Democratic Struggles since Independence (2011), Obafemi Awolowo: Lessons in Leadership and Legacy (2017), Practical Lessons in Strategic Leadership (2023), The Optimist Ethos (2024), and Politics and International Relations: A Book of Readings (2025).
Since 2022, the British Academy in London has recognised him as a UK Global Talent.
